The configurator assembles a kit from the catalogue — camera, lens, frame grabber, cables, power, mounting, lighting — and checks their compatibility against datasheet values. The result is a single verdict: “Compatible”, “Not verified” or “Incompatible”, plus a draft bill of materials with quantities. Data arrives from the other tools (optics, interface, line-scan) via a link or is entered manually; every tool also works without a kit.
Example 1. Three 5-megapixel GigE cameras, 25 mm C-mount lenses, a PoE switch, three 5 m cables. No frame grabber required; verdict “Compatible”, BOM: 3 cameras, 3 lenses, 3 cables, PoE power.
Example 2. Four CXP-12 cameras at 2457.6 MB/s each and a board with 3350 MB/s sustained: one camera per board — four boards in the BOM. Switching to a 6700 MB/s board gives two boards. If the board bandwidth is missing from the datasheet, the configurator writes “confirm board bandwidth; the engineer will calculate the quantity” and withholds the green verdict.
Example 3. A camera with a 1.1″ sensor and a lens with an 11 mm (2/3″) image circle: the circle is smaller than the 17.6 mm diagonal — “Incompatible”, with the reason shown next to the lens.
The kit is incomplete or a datasheet value is unknown. The configurator does not guess: the missing items are listed, and the final check is done by the engineer on request.
No. They work through the computer's network or USB3 port. A PoE board is needed only to power cameras over the cable or to give each camera its own link.
Through a parameterised link: the optics tool passes the camera and lens, the interface check passes the camera, the camera count and the board, the line-scan tool passes the camera, the count and the focal length. The kit is kept in the browser for a day and cleared with one button.
No. The BOM lists models and quantities; the commercial proposal is prepared by the manager on request.
