Operating fit and variants

An M12 optical interface distinguishes MV-CB016-10GC-S within the Ethernet members of the 1.6 MP family. Behind it, the 1/2.9-inch Sony® IMX296 CMOS sensor uses 3.45 µm pixels, a global shutter and 1440 × 1080 Bayer RG 8 output at up to 65.2 fps. The network port runs at 1000 Mbit/s and remains compatible with 100 Mbit/s Ethernet.

Compact color stations can use the camera for checking moving assemblies, reading color-coded conditions or following component placement. Global shutter timing avoids row-dependent motion geometry, and UltraShort exposure from 1 µs to 14 µs supports strobed capture. Standard exposure spans 15 µs to 10 sec. PoE combines the network and power path, while a 9 VDC to 24 VDC input is available on the 6-pin power/I/O connector.

MV-CB016-10GC-C is the direct optical alternative: it retains the Sony® IMX296, 65.2 fps ceiling, PoE and 29 mm × 29 mm × 30.2 mm dimensions but changes to C-mount. MV-CB016-10UC-S V4.0 also has a small-thread S-mount and color output, yet moves data over USB 3.0 and raises the ADC 8 rate to 249.1 fps using the IMX273. The 10GC-S suits M12 optics and Ethernet cabling; the others address C-mount or substantially faster USB capture.

Selection and applications

M12 color inspection on moving parts. PoE machine-state observation. Ethernet-triggered compact imaging.

Minimum kit: Use the camera with an M12-mount lens covering the 1/2.9-inch sensor, a Gigabit Ethernet cable, and either PoE or a 9 VDC to 24 VDC supply at the 6-pin connector.

Nearby in the range: MV-CB016-10GC-C — Choose it when the same 65.2 fps color GigE camera must use a C-mount lens; MV-CB016-10UC-S V4.0 — Choose it when an S-mount color design needs USB 3.0 and up to 249.1 fps in ADC 8.

FAQ

What optics attach directly to MV-CB016-10GC-S during integration?

The camera provides an M12-mount for the 1/2.9-inch Sony® IMX296 sensor. Optical selection should cover that sensor format and supply the required field of view. Its body measures 29 mm × 29 mm × 30.2 mm and weighs approximately 45 g.

Which network rates are supported by MV-CB016-10GC-S?

The data interface is Gigabit Ethernet at 1000 Mbit/s, with stated support for Fast Ethernet at 100 Mbit/s. The image format reaches 1440 × 1080 Bayer RG 8 at 65.2 fps on the faster link.

How may MV-CB016-10GC-S be powered in an embedded system?

PoE is supported for combined power and Ethernet data. A separate 9 VDC to 24 VDC input can instead use the 6-pin connector. Typical draw is 2.7 W at 12 VDC, which defines the camera-side supply requirement.

How short can exposure be on MV-CB016-10GC-S during triggered capture?

UltraShort mode extends from 1 µs to 14 µs. Standard exposure runs from 15 µs to 10 sec. Together with the global shutter, the short range supports controlled-light imaging of targets moving through the camera's 1440 × 1080 field.

When is MV-CB016-10GC-C a better mechanical match than 10GC-S?

Select MV-CB016-10GC-C when the optical design is based on C-mount rather than the M12-mount fitted to 10GC-S. Sensor, color output, 65.2 fps rate, Ethernet interface, power options and enclosure dimensions otherwise match.
