Imaging role and integration

Fine monochrome detail in a board-level format defines MV-CB120-10UM-S V4.0. Its Sony® IMX226 CMOS sensor records 4032 × 3036 images at up to 30 fps, with 1.85 µm pixels across a 1/1.7-inch sensor. The rolling shutter, 64.6 dB dynamic range and USB 3.0 interface suit controlled acquisition where spatial sampling matters more than freezing rapid motion. An M12 mount keeps the optical connection within the compact module concept.

The 35 mm × 35 mm × 8.6 mm board and approximate 30 g mass fit embedded readers, measurement heads and inspection instruments with limited internal volume. USB 3.0 carries both image data and the 5 VDC supply, so a host connection can serve the 1.5 W typical load. Two bidirectional non-isolated I/O lines allow the camera to exchange timing signals with the machine. Exposure from 33 μs to 2 sec supports either short controlled captures or longer acquisitions of static subjects.

This is the only board level area camera in the product group, so its position is set by its own balance rather than a same-category comparison. Select it when the required combination is 12.2 MP monochrome output, an M12-mount optical path and USB-powered operation at 30 fps. The 0 °C to 50 °C working range and 20% RH to 80% RH non-condensing limit define the installation envelope for the compact 35 mm × 35 mm board.

FAQ

How does the rolling shutter affect motion in this board-level camera?

The Sony® IMX226 uses a rolling shutter, so different rows are exposed at different instants. The camera is therefore better matched to static or controlled-motion subjects than to unconstrained fast travel. Its shortest listed exposure is 33 μs, while full 4032 × 3036 output reaches 30 fps.

What lens connection is required for the MV-CB120-10UM-S V4.0?

This variant has an M12 mount for an M12-thread lens. The 1/1.7-inch sensor and 1.85 µm pixel pitch should be considered when selecting optical coverage and resolving capability. The chosen optic must cover the stated sensor while resolving detail at the camera's sampling scale.

Can image data and camera power share the same USB connection?

Yes. The data interface is USB 3.0 and the power entry is also USB 3.0. Typical consumption is 1.5 W at 5 VDC, allowing one host-side USB connection to carry data and supply the board, subject to the host providing the stated electrical conditions.

What external timing connections are available on this compact board?

Two bidirectional non-isolated I/O points are listed as Line 2 and Line 5. They provide the electrical path for coordination with external equipment, while the acquisition settings offer exposure from 33 μs to 2 sec and gain adjustment from 0 dB to 20 dB.

What environmental limits should the enclosure design accommodate?

Operation is rated from 0 °C to 50 °C and at 20% RH to 80% RH without condensation. Storage extends from –30 °C to 80 °C. Because the product is a 35 mm × 35 mm × 8.6 mm board-level assembly, the surrounding equipment must provide the required mechanical and environmental protection.
