Engineering fit and alternatives

USB 3.0 raises the square color output of MV-CH250-60UC to 14.8 fps at 5120 × 5120. Its 26.2 MP Stacked BSI rolling-shutter CMOS sensor measures 12.6 mm × 12.6 mm, uses 2.44 µm pixels and delivers Bayer BG 8. The compact C-mount configuration fits detailed color imaging at a local host where the target can remain stable during rolling-shutter acquisition.

Color arrays, printed patterns and stationary surface features can be sampled equally along both axes. Exposure ranges from 58 µs to 10 sec. USB can power the camera as well as carry images, with a typical draw of 5.5 W at 5 V DC; a separate 9 V DC to 24 V DC input is also supported. The 6-pin P7 port provides isolated input and output plus a bidirectional non-isolated line for triggers and timed events.

MV-CH250-60UM shares the Stacked BSI sensor, 5120 × 5120 image, 14.8 fps USB link, C-mount and enclosure but outputs Mono 8. MV-CH250-60GC is the color GigE version at 4.7 fps with PoE. MV-CH250-90GC V4.0 also provides square color over GigE, using a Gpixel GMAX0505 global-shutter sensor at 4.5 fps. Choose 60UC for faster USB color, 60UM for monochrome USB, 60GC for Stacked BSI color with PoE, or 90GC where a global shutter is required.

Selection and applications

USB color inspection of square patterns. Stationary Bayer BG 8 surface capture. USB-powered 26.2 MP imaging.

Minimum setup: MV-CH250-60UC, a C-mount lens, a USB 3.0 cable, and USB power or a 9 V DC to 24 V DC supply.

Nearby in the range: MV-CH250-60UM — Prefer it for Mono 8 at the same 5120 × 5120 and 14.8 fps; MV-CH250-60GC — Prefer it for the same Bayer BG 8 sensor over Gigabit Ethernet with PoE; MV-CH250-90GC V4.0 — Prefer it for square GigE color with a global shutter.

FAQ

What data and power share the MV-CH250-60UC USB connection?

USB 3.0 carries the 5120 × 5120 Bayer BG 8 stream and can supply camera power. Typical draw is 5.5 W at 5 V DC when USB provides power. USB 2.0 operation and an external 9 V DC to 24 V DC supply are also supported.

How does the 60UC color model compare with the 60UM?

Both use the same 12.6 mm × 12.6 mm Stacked BSI sensor, 2.44 µm pixels, rolling shutter, USB 3.0 and 14.8 fps rate. MV-CH250-60UC outputs Bayer BG 8 color, while MV-CH250-60UM outputs Mono 8.

What does rolling shutter mean for MV-CH250-60UC triggering?

The rows of the 5120 × 5120 sensor are read with rolling-shutter timing. For stable geometry, the subject should remain stationary through acquisition or settle before the trigger. Exposure can be set from 58 µs to 10 sec.

Which optical format must a lens cover on MV-CH250-60UC?

The camera has C-mount and a square 12.6 mm × 12.6 mm sensor. A lens should cover the sensor corners and resolve its 2.44 µm pitch across all 5120 × 5120 color samples.

What are the size and ambient limits of the USB color camera?

The enclosure is 29 mm × 44 mm × 59 mm and weighs approximately 103.8 g. Operation is from –10 °C to 50 °C at 20% RH to 95% RH without condensation, with IP40 under proper lens installation and wiring.
