Applications and neighbours for the 12.2 MP USB camera

Color detail at a moderate sequence rate is the defining balance of the MV-CS120-10UC V5.0. Its 12.2 MP Sony® IMX226 rolling-shutter CMOS sensor produces 4024 × 3036 Bayer RG 8 frames at up to 29.4 fps through USB 3.0. The 1/1.7-inch sensor has 1.85 µm pixels, a 70.5 dB dynamic range and exposure adjustment from 12 µs to 1 sec. USB 2.0 operation is also listed for connection flexibility.

Detailed color classification, print verification and inspection of small colored features can use the full pixel array, while 29.4 fps supports repeated views within a machine cycle. USB 3.0 can power the camera at the same host connection, or the 6-pin P7 connector can accept 9 VDC to 24 VDC and expose isolated I/O. Its 29 mm × 29 mm × 30 mm housing and C-mount keep the imaging head compact around a 1/1.7-inch optical path.

MV-CS120-10UM V5.0 provides Mono 8 at the same 4024 × 3036 and 29.4 fps when hue is unnecessary. MV-CS120-10GC V5.0 keeps the Bayer RG 8 output and resolution but uses Gigabit Ethernet with PoE and reaches 10 fps. MV-CS060-10UC V5.0 offers a faster 60.9 fps USB color stream at the lower 3072 × 2048 resolution, suiting selections that favor sequence rate over fine sampling.

Selection and applications

Detailed color classification at 4024 × 3036. USB-powered print verification at 29.4 fps. Inspection of small Bayer RG 8 color features.

Minimum kit: MV-CS120-10UC V5.0 camera, a C-mount lens, a USB 3.0 cable, and either USB 3.0 power or a 9 VDC to 24 VDC supply through the 6-pin P7 connector form the minimum operating set.

Nearby in the range: MV-CS120-10UM V5.0 — Prefer it for Mono 8 output at the same 4024 × 3036 and 29.4 fps; MV-CS120-10GC V5.0 — Prefer it when Gigabit Ethernet and PoE are required for 4024 × 3036 color imaging; MV-CS060-10UC V5.0 — Prefer it when 60.9 fps is needed and 3072 × 2048 color sampling is sufficient.

FAQ

What full-resolution color rate does the USB interface support?

The listed maximum is 29.4 fps at 4024 × 3036 using Bayer RG 8 output. The camera uses a 12.2 MP Sony® IMX226 rolling-shutter sensor with 1.85 µm pixels. USB 3.0 carries this stream, and operation with USB 2.0 is also listed.

Can the host connection supply all required camera power?

USB 3.0 power supply is supported. Typical consumption is 1.5 W at 5 VDC in the USB-powered configuration. If a separate machine supply is preferred, the 6-pin P7 connector accepts 9 VDC to 24 VDC and also carries the camera's three listed I/O lines.

What optical format must a C-mount lens cover on this model?

The C-mount lens must cover a 1/1.7-inch Sony® IMX226 sensor and support the needed detail across 4024 × 3036 pixels with a 1.85 µm pitch. Because the stream is Bayer RG 8, the lens and illumination should maintain the color separation used by the application.

How short can exposure be for moving color targets?

Exposure can be set from 12 µs to 1 sec. The short end can reduce displacement from a moving target when illumination permits, but the Sony® IMX226 is still a rolling-shutter device and motion across the frame must be considered. The maximum full-resolution rate is 29.4 fps.

Why choose this camera over the GigE color version?

MV-CS120-10UC V5.0 reaches 29.4 fps at 4024 × 3036 over USB 3.0, while MV-CS120-10GC V5.0 reaches 10 fps at the same Bayer RG 8 resolution over Gigabit Ethernet. Choose USB for the higher listed rate at a nearby host; choose GigE when PoE and a network link define the architecture.
