High-speed color capture and positioning

Fast color acquisition is the defining role of the MV-CU004-10GC. Its Sony IMX297 CMOS sensor combines a 720 × 540 output, 6.9 µm pixels and global shutter operation at 126.5 fps. Bayer RG 8 output retains color information, while the exposure range includes a 1–14 µs UltraShort mode and a 15 µs–10 sec standard mode. Gigabit Ethernet carries the image stream.

The global shutter and short exposure capability suit color checks on moving parts, including presence, orientation and color-state decisions on a conveyor. The 1/2.9-inch format and C-mount support a compact optical assembly. A 6-pin P7 connection adds one opto-isolated input, one opto-isolated output and one bidirectional non-isolated I/O for coordinating acquisition with a sensor or controller.

Within this group, MV-CU004-10GM keeps the same Sony IMX297, 720 × 540 ceiling and 126.5 fps rate. MV-CU013-80UC raises resolution to 1280 × 1024 and reaches 240.4 fps through USB 3.0 for a closer host connection. Select MV-CU004-10GC when Gigabit Ethernet, stated color output and the larger 6.9 µm pixel pitch matter more than added pixel count.

Selection and applications

Color-state checks on moving parts. High-rate presence and orientation inspection. Triggered acquisition over Gigabit Ethernet.

Minimum kit: Use the camera with a C-mount lens for the 1/2.9-inch sensor, a Gigabit Ethernet cable, and either PoE or a 9–24 V DC supply.

Nearby in the range: MV-CU004-10GM — Choose it for the same Sony IMX297, 720 × 540 resolution and 126.5 fps; MV-CU013-80UC — Choose it for 1280 × 1024 color output at 240.4 fps over USB 3.0.

FAQ

How does the MV-CU004-10GC handle fast color targets in motion?

A CMOS global shutter exposes the 720 × 540 frame at once, avoiding the line-by-line timing of a rolling shutter. The camera delivers up to 126.5 fps in Bayer RG 8, and its UltraShort exposure mode spans 1–14 µs for strongly illuminated moving targets.

What lens interface and sensor format must the optics cover?

The camera uses a C-mount around a 1/2.9-inch Sony IMX297 sensor. Lens selection should therefore cover that sensor format and deliver the required scene coverage at 720 × 540; the 6.9 µm pixel pitch is also relevant when setting magnification and resolving detail.

Can MV-CU004-10GC receive power through the network cable?

PoE is optional, so a suitable installation can carry power and Gigabit Ethernet on the network connection. The alternative is a 9–24 V DC feed through the camera connection. Typical consumption is 2 W at 12 V DC.

Which hardware signals are available for triggering and line control?

The 6-pin P7 connector provides one opto-isolated input, one opto-isolated output and one bidirectional non-isolated I/O. These lines let an installation exchange timing or status signals while image data travels over Gigabit Ethernet.

What enclosure and temperature limits apply to MV-CU004-10GC?

The housing is rated IP30 when the lens is installed and wiring is completed correctly. Operation is specified from 0 °C to 50 °C, with 20–95% RH non-condensing humidity. The body measures 29 mm × 29 mm × 42 mm and weighs about 100 g.
