Faster 5 MP monochrome capture by USB

A 48.2 fps Mono 8 stream at 2592 × 1944 distinguishes MV-CU050-60UM from the slower 5 MP GigE models. The 1/2.5-inch HK CMOS sensor has 2.2 µm pixels and a rolling shutter, with USB 3.0 as the data interface. Dynamic range is 65.4 dB, exposure extends from 12 µs to 1.25 sec and gain spans 0 dB to 24 dB.

High-detail intensity, print and surface-feature inspection can use the monochrome grid when the target is stationary or its motion is controlled during exposure. USB 3.0 supports camera power at a typical 2.7 W and 5 V DC. The 6-pin P7 connection provides one isolated input, one isolated output and one bidirectional non-isolated I/O for synchronising acquisition with the machine.

MV-CU050-30GM keeps 2592 × 1944 Mono 8 but uses an AR0521 and GigE at 24 fps. MV-CU050-60GM supplies the same resolution through GigE at 23.1 fps with a 1/2.5-inch rolling-shutter sensor. MV-CU050-90UM raises the grid to 2600 × 2160, changes to a global-shutter GMAX2505 and reaches 59.8 fps. Select 60UM for 5 MP Mono 8 over USB 3.0 with the 48.2 fps operating point.

Selection and applications

High-detail monochrome print checks. USB surface-feature inspection. Triggered 5 MP intensity capture.

Minimum kit: Combine the camera with a C-mount lens covering 1/2.5 inch and a USB 3.0 cable supplying 5 V DC, or use a 9–24 V DC feed.

Nearby in the range: MV-CU050-30GM — Prefer it for AR0521 Mono 8 over Gigabit Ethernet at 24 fps; MV-CU050-60GM — Prefer it for a 23.1 fps Gigabit Ethernet path at the same 2592 × 1944 resolution; MV-CU050-90UM — Prefer it for global-shutter Mono 8 at 2600 × 2160 and 59.8 fps.

FAQ

What image stream does MV-CU050-60UM send over USB 3.0?

The camera outputs 2592 × 1944 Mono 8 at up to 48.2 fps. Its HK sensor uses 2.2 µm pixels, providing a 5 MP intensity grid for print, edge and surface-feature analysis.

How does the rolling shutter affect moving-object inspection?

The target should be stationary or motion controlled during exposure when geometry matters. Exposure ranges from 12 µs to 1.25 sec, and the rolling-shutter CMOS sensor runs at up to 48.2 fps at full resolution.

Can USB 3.0 provide operating power to the MV-CU050-60UM?

Yes. USB 3.0 power is supported, with typical consumption of 2.7 W at 5 V DC. An external 9–24 V DC input is also listed, so the installation can use host-bus power or a separate machine source.

What optical coverage is needed for the 1/2.5-inch HK sensor?

Use a C-mount lens whose image circle covers 1/2.5 inch and whose resolving ability matches the required detail over 2592 × 1944. The 2.2 µm pitch and scene coverage determine object-space sampling.

What mechanical and environmental limits apply to 60UM?

The camera is 29 mm × 29 mm × 30 mm, weighs about 76 g and carries an IP40 rating with proper lens installation and wiring. Operation is specified from 0 °C to 50 °C at 20–80% RH non-condensing.
