Camera Link color imaging at 4K

Color acquisition over a 4096 × 2 CMOS line and a configurable Camera Link connection defines MV-CL042-91CC. The 7 µm pixel array can operate at 40 kHz in Base, at 20 kHz or 40 kHz in Base/Medium configurations, and at 40 kHz, 80 kHz or 100 kHz across Base/Medium/Full configurations. An SDR connector carries the camera data, with USB reserved for firmware updates.

This layout addresses continuous color inspection where the frame grabber is already built around Camera Link and the transport speed must be matched to the acquisition configuration. The 4096-pixel line provides twice the cross-web sampling count of the 2048-pixel color models. An M42*1 optical interface with a 12 mm back focal length can accept F-mount, C-mount or other lens types through a suitable adapter.

MV-CL042-91CM uses the same 4096 × 2 geometry and housing but captures monochrome output at up to 100 kHz. MV-CL042-91CM-V2 raises the mono Full rate to 162 kHz and provides a 195 kHz 80-bit mode. For a color camera with the same line geometry but a different link, MV-CL042-91FC reaches 98 kHz in RGB 8/BGR 8 over an LC fiber connector; choose between them according to the installed receiver and required color format.

Selection and applications

4K Camera Link color scanning. Color web inspection at 100 kHz. Frame-grabber-based line acquisition.

Minimum kit: Use the MV-CL042-91CC camera, an M42*1 line-scan lens or adapted C-mount/F-mount lens, a Camera Link cable and frame grabber, and a suitable camera power source.

Nearby in the range: MV-CL042-91CM — Prefer it when the same 4096 × 2 format is required in mono; MV-CL042-91CM-V2 — Prefer it for mono Camera Link output at up to 195 kHz; MV-CL042-91FC — Prefer it for 4096 × 2 color transfer through an LC fiber connector.

FAQ

Which Camera Link configurations set the MV-CL042-91CC line rate?

The documented combinations include 40 kHz in Base, 20 kHz or 40 kHz in Base/Medium, and 40 kHz, 80 kHz or 100 kHz across Base/Medium/Full. The selected frame-grabber configuration must therefore correspond to the required acquisition rate.

How can C-mount or F-mount optics be fitted to MV-CL042-91CC?

The native thread is M42*1 with a 12 mm optical back focal length. C-mount, F-mount and other lens types may be used through an appropriate lens adapter, provided the selected optics cover the 4096-pixel line and its 7 µm pixels.

What connections are needed for MV-CL042-91CC data and servicing?

Camera Link image data uses an SDR connector, so the acquisition side needs a corresponding Camera Link frame grabber and cable. A separate USB interface is provided for firmware updating rather than as the production image-data path.

How much installation space should be reserved for MV-CL042-91CC?

The camera body measures 62 mm × 62 mm × 36.9 mm. Optical adapters and the SDR cable extend beyond that envelope, so the mechanical layout should preserve access to the M42*1 front thread and the Camera Link connection.

What distinguishes MV-CL042-91CC from the mono MV-CL042-91CM?

Both use a 4096 × 2 CMOS array, 7 µm pixels, an M42*1 interface and Camera Link. MV-CL042-91CC is the color variant, while MV-CL042-91CM is mono and provides 40.5 kHz Base, 81 kHz Medium and 100 kHz Full rates.
