Wide-format monochrome global-shutter capture

A 2048 × 1200 Mono 8 frame gives MV-CU020-90GM a wide 2.5 MP inspection format. Its 1/1.7-inch GMAX4002 CMOS sensor uses 4 µm pixels and a global shutter, reaching 49 fps through 1000 Mbit/s Gigabit Ethernet. The imaging controls span 4 µs to 10 sec exposure and 0–11.1 dB gain, with 66.9 dB dynamic range.

The wide grid suits monochrome edge, profile and alignment checks across moving components. Global exposure maintains geometry, and the 4 µs lower exposure setting supports blur control with adequate illumination. Optional PoE can power the camera through the network route; the 6-pin P7 connector offers one isolated input, one isolated output and one bidirectional non-isolated I/O for synchronisation.

MV-CU020-90UC keeps the GMAX4002, 2048 × 1200 grid and 4 µm pitch but switches to color USB 3.0 at 150.2 fps. MV-CU020-80GM uses a smaller 1/2.6-inch SC235 sensor at 1600 × 1200 and 53.5 fps. MV-CU020-19GM V3.0 provides 1920 × 1080 Mono 8 at 56 fps with rolling shutter and WDR. Pick 90GM for global-shutter Mono, the 1/1.7-inch format and GigE.

Engineering data for this model

Calculated by the MVisionPro engineering tools from the passport data of this model for typical tasks. The figures are estimates for preliminary selection.

Engineering conclusion: 20 mm at 300 mm WD gives a 114.69 mm field, so a 100 mm object fits geometrically. The confirmed mode 2048 × 1200 px · 49 fps · Mono8 gives a raw stream of 0.963 Gbit/s over GigE, which fits one link.

Note: Spatial sampling is an engineering estimate; confirm measurement performance by calibration and verify the selected lens installation.

FAQ

What inspection geometry does the 2048 × 1200 output support?

The GMAX4002 produces a wide 2048 × 1200 Mono 8 image with 4 µm pixels. This directly serves edge, profile and alignment analysis across a broad image width when color information is not needed for the decision.

How does MV-CU020-90GM capture moving components at full frame?

Its CMOS sensor uses a global shutter and reaches 49 fps at full resolution. Exposure can be shortened to 4 µs under sufficient illumination, while the complete range extends to 10 sec for slower or stationary acquisition.

What lens coverage is required for the GMAX4002 sensor?

A C-mount lens must cover the 1/1.7-inch sensor and resolve the chosen object detail across 2048 × 1200. The 4 µm pixel pitch and required scene coverage form the basis for magnification and focal-length selection.

Can 90GM combine its power and GigE data connection?

PoE is optional, and the camera also accepts 9–24 V DC. Typical draw is 1.9 W at 12 V DC. Data uses 1000 Mbit/s Gigabit Ethernet, with 100 Mbit/s Fast Ethernet operation also listed.

What integration limits accompany the 29 mm square housing?

The body measures 29 mm × 29 mm × 42 mm, weighs about 100 g and is IP30 with proper lens installation and wiring. Operation is specified from 0 °C to 50 °C at 20–95% RH without condensation.
